I don't have a ton of time to post as I'd really like some sleep. Today The Boy and I went to a little gathering at the home of one of the moms in my online mom's group. The hostess has an excellent backyard and some very cool toys. The 4 year old daughter of the hostess was rather insistent on which toys needed the designation of "babies aren't allowed" but The Boy didn't really seem to notice. I had a chat with her about amusement parks, where they say that you have to be a certain height in order to ride, and The Boy was, in fact, tall enough to play on what looked like half of a teeter-totter with a bouncy ball underneath it. She was satisfied that The Boy's feet touched the ground while he was on it, so therefore he was "allowed."
I'm thinking that because she has a sister who is 9 months old, she is often wrestling with the "babies aren't allowed" issue. The whole thing didn't bother me in the slightest.
It was nice to see the other moms although it was a bit disappointing that there weren't any other kids who were at The Boy's age/stage. It was also all girls except for him, but he didn't seem to notice that. One mom who has two boys didn't make it because one of them wasn't feeling well.
It was great to see The Boy walking around and playing and having such a good time! He picked up toys and threw a ball around and swung a bat, and he just went exploring when he was done with all that. Tromping around like a little man...so cute!

How fun! I wish I had a playgroup...
It seems like most of the people with kids around my daughter's age have boys - her daycare class has 11 boys and 5 girls.
Nice job handling the 4 year old - it's hard to make them understand rule exceptions at that age. I shudder to think what my already incredibly bossy girl will be like at that age!
